The Sons of Cannibals (book review)

Bryan Webb has been a missionary to the Oceania Pacific region of the world for many years. He currently serves as the director of missions for that region with the Assemblies of God World Missions.

One of the nations that he worked in for many years was Vanuatu. It is a small island nation with many different tribes of people. In this book he tells many different short stories of events that he had experienced on the island.

Some of the stories are extremely funny, such as dealing with an outhouse and showers–showering in the open with the natives watching. Others are extremely graphic, such as dealing with real life cannibals and witch doctors.

In this book, one will get a feel for what some missionaries must deal with and the struggles that they may have. He also talks about his children and some of what they have to deal with.

This book can be extremely graphic at times and deals with subjects that is not for the squeamish but is reality. If you have followed my book reviews, you will also remember that I wrote some reviews on books he wrote for children. They were about some children going on missions trips. Several of those stories he tells in this book on the real side of what happened, not just through the eyes of children.

I highly recommend reading this book, especially if you support and believe in missionaries and their work around the world. It will open your eyes to some of what they have to go through.

    1. You are welcome. I had the opportunity last year to meet the author and hear some of his stories directly. The book was great to read after hearing from him.
