Pray for Kyrgyzstan
Kyrgyzstan is a nation located in central Asia. It is a nation that began with a lot of Shamanism and ancestor worship that continues to this day. Over the years, Islam has spread throughout the nation to become the primary belief of many. Although many hold to Islam, many are just in title only and don’t practice it fully.
Since Islam holds a major hold upon the people throughout the country, there is a lot of persecution against Christian believers. This is also compounded with the communistic leadings of the rulers in the nation that push back against religion in general. It makes it very difficult for believers to get permission to build a church or to meet in public.
Along with the persecution, there is a lot of crime and corruption in the land. Many of the larger cities have very large slum districts filled with alcoholism, drugs, trafficking, gambling and prostitution. The government does very little to slow these problems down.
Missionaries have to often get regular jobs and carefully speak to people about the Gospel message. Their goal is to raise up people from Kyrgyzstan to be able to lead their own churches in the power and strength of God.
