The Lost Art of Intercession (book review)
The author, James Goll, had the opportunity to travel to the Moravian village of Herrnhut in Germany in 1993. While there he learned about the history of Count Nikolaus Ludwig von Zinzendorf in that church in 1722. He had started a small intercession prayer meeting with some people. Over the next 100 years, the church sent out hundreds of missionaries around the world that had an effect to this day.
While there, James felt God call him to intercession. This book takes a look at what intercession is and how to go about it. In it he talks about restoring the fire of God in the lives of believers, which will bring people to restore the watch of God. Believers are to be give warnings as to what is coming from God. God’s hand is lifted up in intercession to break through barriers in the hearts of people to get the message spread around the world.
As one intercedes for others, one must also expect God to move in mighty ways. He said that as prayers go up to God, He will send down lightning strikes of answers to those prayers all over the world. Entire nations can be changed through prayer that moves others to action and gives them what is needed.
This book will encourage one to take up the mission of interceding in prayer for others and seeing what God can do. A lot of scripture is used, along with many examples that he had experienced.
At the end of each chapter, he offers a prayer for the reader that goes with the topic discussed.
This book is an easy read. I would highly recommend reading this book, if you have an interest in interceding for others. If you don’t have an interest in interceding in prayer for others, read this book anyways and you may catch that fire of God.
