Kill the Spider: Getting rid of what’s really holding you back (book review)
Carlos Whittaker hated spiders, just like the majority of people do. Often people just sweep away the spider webs that they see, but do not actually kill the spider that made the web that they do not like. Even though Carlos was a worship pastor, he found out that in his life he had many spiders that needed to be dealt with.
He tells his story of his experience in learning about deep dark lies that one believes that holds a person back from really living life. There are spots in which he bares raw truth in his questions and struggles with life and his belief in God, even as a minister. Each lie is a spider that is spinning its web entangling a person up and holding one back from reaching full potential for God.
At the end of each chapter, Carlos asks a few questions to challenge the reader to look into one’s life and see what spiders there are and how to get rid of them.
I highly recommend reading this book. Take it slowly to let what he talks about sink in. Apply the truths that he writes about to your life. Open yourself up to see the spiders in your life that are holding you back from doing and being who God wants you to be. It is an easy book to read and fairly short, but extremely challenging.
