Genesis 1:3 Let There Be Light

Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light. Genesis 1:3

Light is something that is essential for life to occur. Without light there is only darkness and nothing can be seen. In the darkness people will stumble and fall, getting injured in the process. Plants will be unable to grow to provide the needed nutrition. Darkness will also provide a cover for bad things to occur, theft, violence, destruction and more, hiding what people do that no one wants to be seen or known about.

The author of Genesis, generally believed to be Moses, wrote that in the beginning God called out for there to be light and light came about.

Watching movies will show that bad things generally occur when someone walks into a dark place. Evil men try to hide in darkness to cover their evil actions. Those actions remain hidden until it is brought to the light and seen.

The world loves to keep things dark. No one wants their bad deeds to be exposed, revealing their guilt. Before anything was created or made, God brought about light. Things needed to be seen first in order to exist and be of good value.

God, Himself being Light, brought light into the world to reveal Himself and what He has done and can do. His light will also reveal how evil people are and all the sin that they have done. As it reveals that sin, it also reveals who Jesus is and what He has done, which also reveals God’s great love for all people.

Instead of remaining in the dark shadows of death and sin, one needs to step out into the light that God has provided. Life has been provided for every person that is willing to accept it, and that is good.

Moving around in darkness is probably difficult for you to do. That is when injuries and problems occur. Turning on a light is one thing you probably do in order to see. God has given you light so that you can see the evil in your own life and all around you. It also reveals His great love for you and the salvation He provides for you. Just as it was good when God brought about light in the creation of the world, it is good when God’s light is shining in your life.

Do you have God’s light in you?

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will know the light God has provided; that God will reveal sin that needs to be repented of; that you will see the light of God’s amazing love and provision for you; and that God will lead you out of the darkness into His light.
