Job 17:11-12 The Light In The Darkness

Lighthouse glow

My days have passed, my plans are shattered. Yet the desires of my heart turn night into day; in the face of the darkness light is near. Job 17:11-12

As night sets in, darkness fills the sky. Once it is fully night, there is very little light to see by. While it is dark, all hope appears to disappear and fade away. Yet, when dawn begins to show, light also begins to show. It starts out with just a little and then grows until it is full day again.

In the same way, there are storms that pass through an area, blocking out all light. It appears as the end of all hope and only danger is present. However, after a time, a small light begins to appear. That light is showing that there is an end to that storm, it is coming.

Job had looked back on his days and felt that all of his plans had been destroyed and that there was no real hope. Yet, he had a desire in his heart for better days. Holding onto that desire, kept him moving forward and in the dark he began to see a light. There was a hope of a better future ahead.

Believers will have days and times in life where all they see is a storm of troubles. Everything around them is dark and appears to be hopeless and that all is lost. Instead of looking outward, they must look into the heart and see the desires of their heart. That desire is to be with God through the saving grace of Jesus. It is the hope that one day He will return. It is the hope that one day all the troubles will end.

This gives a light in the middle of a storm in life. This is a hope that is there despite the shattered plans.

As you are going through struggles in life, hold onto that hope you have within you. See the light at the end of the tunnel. There will come a day when Jesus will return to take you with Him for eternity. There will come a day when God will turn the troubles around and fill your days His favor in full light.

Do not give up or lose hope in Christ Jesus during a storm. Know that it will come to an end at the right time. God is with you and will not leave you. Hold onto that light.

I pray today that you will know the presence of God; that you will have the desire to be with God; that you will see the light of God in the dark places; and that you will hold onto God during a storm.

1 John 1:6 Don’t Be A Liar

Path in the darkness

If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth. 1 John 1:6

Very few people like to be considered a liar. They want to be known as for telling the truth. Yet, there are many who will tell lies on a regular basis.

Lies usually start out with not telling the truth is little situations in life. They ‘bend’ the truth to be able to get away with something, or even to ‘protect’ someone. As they tell these lies, the lies get easier to tell.

One area that many people lie in is who they really are. It is common for a person to portray himself as someone who he really is not. Some will claim to be wealthy with money, but don’t have any. Others claim to be very important, while not really being anyone at all.

There is a lie that is found in the church very often. People claim to be a believer and have fellowship with God, yet, live in darkness. They purposefully live in some type of sin. These sins can be things that are not seen as really bad, such as jealousy, gossip, anger, or other ‘small’ sinful actions. While others live in immoral relationships, outright lying, cheating, violence or more.

John says that any person who claims to be a believer, yet lives in darkness, or sin, is a liar. There is no real truth in the person. He is not being who he says he is.

A person cannot have a relationship with Jesus and still live in outright sin. Jesus has purified the believer of sin and made him a new person. He must be changed and turn away from all sin. He must walk as Jesus walked.

You need to examine your own life and determine how you are living out your life. If you claim to be in fellowship with God, does your life reflect that belief?

As a believer, you must be actively turning away from sin. Striving to live a holy and pure life that God has called you to live. Do not live as the world does, in sin and darkness. Step into the light of Jesus and walk His path.

Live out the truth that has been revealed to you. Do not lie and walk in the darkness that this world offers. Be who you claim to be.

I pray today that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will have fellowship with God; that you will turn away from all sin; that God will make you a new person in Jesus; and that you will always live in the truth of God’s word.
