Revelation 18:4 Come Out

And I heard another voice from heaven saying, “Come out of her, my people, lest you share in her sins, and lest you receive of her plagues.” Revelation 18:4

Being in the midst of a crowd can cause one to easily get caught up with the crowd. In the middle of a crowd is the peer pressure to take part of what is going on. Moving a different direction than everyone else is difficult for most people. This can cause one to be caught up in doing what is wrong through the pressure being pushed by the group.

John is describing the downfall of Babylon and hears a voice telling the people to get out of there or else they will share in their sins and receive their plagues.

Having no real standard, the world is willing to do anything and everything for immediate pleasure in the moment. In the mind of the world sin does not exist. Life is all about pleasing self.

Promotion to sin against God is everywhere one looks. Sometimes very openly promoted and other times subtly promoted. As it is promoted in the crowds of people, it is difficult for people to keep from following the crowd in sin.

Believers are to be set apart, different than the world. They are to walk in the holiness and righteousness of Jesus in all that they think, say or do. In order to do this, believers must get out of Babylon, the crowds of this world that promote sin and death.

Choices must be made that will bring one to live in the pattern that Jesus has set out for believers to live. Walking away from the crowds to remove oneself from the temptation to sin against God must be a choice being made daily. They must get out of the world’s ways of living in sin.

The world around you is your Babylon. Sin and the pressure to sin abounds everywhere you look. If you are not focused upon God, it will be easy for you to fall into the ways of this world and sin against God. Flee the Babylon that is around you and run to God for direction and strength. He will guide you by the Holy Spirit in living according to His holy standard. The judgement of the world will not come upon you as you trust in and follow Jesus with all of your life.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that God will reveal the Babylon around you; that God will give you strength to overcome temptation to sin; that God will give you strength to leave the world of sin behind; and that you will honor God with all of your life.
