For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. Colossians 3:3
Death is something that most people fear. They are willing to do whatever it takes to keep from dying. Billions of dollars are spent every year going to doctors in attempts to cure sicknesses that can cause one to die. People love to live life and want to live it however they desire with no consequences. Although people claim to be really living their life fully, many are walking around in despair and depression, with no hope and no real life.
Paul points out to the Colossians that those who believe in and follow Jesus have died and that their life is now hidden with Christ in God.
Life after death is a mystery to the world. People wonder what it will be like and if there will even be any life after death. One thing that everyone agrees on is that it will be different. Some agree that there is some type of life after death, while others do not believe there is any more life at that point.
The world does not know, nor can it understand the spiritual things of God. It cannot know that in order to really have life one must die first, so they focus only on living now in the moment.
Believers have a different understanding of life. Real life begins after death. There are actually two deaths that must occur in the life of the believer. The first is a spiritual death. One must die to sin and sinful ways. At that point, the believer’s life is hidden in Christ. The world cannot understand how or why the person is different but can see the believer now flees sin.
Later, the believer physically dies and is given new life in heaven with God for eternity. Real life begins after death.
Like most people, you probably do not want to really die. You want to live a full life. As a believer, you must be willing to die to sin and your old life. Allow God to hide your life in Christ Jesus so that you are a new creation, a new person that is really living a full and abundant life. No matter what the world may throw at you, you will have the hope of eternal life one day in Christ Jesus and until then you will have a life the world cannot understand.
Have you died yet?
