Brethren, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is that they may be saved. Romans 10:1
One of the most common desires people have all over the world is for world peace. People want there to be no more wars or fighting amongst any groups of people or nations. The desire is for everyone to get along. How this looks is often different for different people. The world then wants everyone to look the same with their own views, rather than with the view of absolute truth that comes from God’s word alone.
Paul tells the people that is his desire and prayer that all of Israel would be saved.
At birthday parties, the person with the birthday is often asked to blow out the candles and make a wish. That wish is to be what that person desires the most and wishes to have. What a person wishes for is different for every person. It could be physical things, or it could be emotional or social things that are desired. Often it comes down to what is most important to the person in the moment.
Believers can often get easily caught up in the same desires and wishes as the world does. They get focused only on the here and now, rather than all of eternity. Many do not see the world as lost and heading to hell, needing Jesus to be saved.
The believer, who knows and has the heart of God, will want others to be saved. It will become their primary focus to spread the gospel message that all may be saved. Seeing people dying in sin, not knowing Jesus, will break their heart, causing them to pray to God for opportunities to spread His word that all may be saved.
You have many desires that you hope will come to pass someday. There is probably nothing wrong with most of those desires. As you look around you and see people every day, what do you see? Are you just seeing people going through their days? Or are you seeing people who are lost and heading to hell?
Seek God to give you His heart for the lost. Allow your heart to be broken at seeing people dying in their sin. Make it your ultimate desire that the people around you will be saved by the grace and mercy of God. Then spread the gospel message that all may be saved.
Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that God will open your eyes to see the lost around you; that you will have the same desire as God that none shall be lost in sin; that you will be His witness; and that God will draw many to salvation through your message.
