Then he said, ‘The God of our fathers has chosen you that you should know His will, and see the Just One, and hear the voice of His mouth.’ Acts 22:14
As a child, most people like to be chosen, they want to be chosen for a team or group. Very few like it when they are not chosen and left on the side all alone, they want to be wanted and a part of the group. Once people become adults, some no longer want to be chosen, but many still do. It gives them purpose and value.
Luke records in Acts about Paul giving His testimony and how Ananias had told him that God had chosen him to know His will, see Jesus and hear His voice when he became a believer.
When it comes to something good, everyone wants to be chosen. They want to receive that special favor or boost in who they are and who they know. While many desire this, many do not have someone in their life choosing them. They feel all alone, fighting on their own for no reason.
God, in His immense and eternal love, has chosen to choose people to be a part of His family. He gives opportunities for every person to know His will and desire to remove all sin and give a person a new and eternal life. This can only be done through seeing Jesus, the only One who can remove all sin and give life. The moment one sees Jesus, that person can also hear His voice and learn what God desires.
Not everyone will accept what God has to offer. Many will reject it and lose out on having true life. Each person must make a personal choice to be willing to know Jesus and hear His voice when God chooses that person to be in His family.
Over the time of your life, you have probably been chosen different times for different things. While some of those times of being chosen were great, there is none that can be greater than when God chose you to be His child. Know that God is ready to choose you and make His will and voice known to you. Open your eyes and ears and begin to see, hear and know God and what He has for you in a personal way. You are chosen by God.
Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will know you are chosen by God; that you will hear the voice of God in your life; and that you will be His witness to all the world.
