Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ. Acts 2:36
In many nations people vote a specific person into an office of high leadership. They are made the head lead of the nation and given all authority over the people. In some nations, this person is one of nobility, with a long family history of leadership. In other nations, this person can be someone who came from out of nowhere and was raised up. Rarely, however, is the person one who had been imprisoned.
Luke records Peter, after the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, telling the people to know confidently that God had made Jesus, whom they crucified, both Lord and Christ or Messiah/Savior.
The world usually does not deny that Jesus existed. They are willing to admit that He existed and was a good teacher. However, at that point the world stops seeing who Jesus really is, after all, in their eyes, He is just another person who walked on the earth for a short time and died.
Historical records show that Jesus did live and died very clearly. What many ignore is that He was raised from the dead and given a greater position than before.
Being given the position of Lord, it makes Jesus the head authority of all. He is the One who is in control and can call all the shots. Everyone is to obey Him without question.
Along with being Lord, Jesus was made Christ. Being Christ, He is the Messiah or Savior. Only Jesus can save a person from the death penalty upon one’s head due to sin. He is able to remove all sin, since He is Lord, and give the person eternal life.
Believers will recognize Jesus as both Lord and Christ. Your sins are what put Jesus upon the cross and caused Him to die by crucifixion. God did not leave Him there but raised Him up so that you can have forgiveness of sin and given new life.
Knowing this, you must allow Jesus to become your Lord and Christ the Savior. Give Jesus all authority in your life as you allow Him to remove your sins and give you the abundant life that will overflow into eternity.
Is Jesus both your Lord and Christ the Savior?
Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will give Jesus all authority in your life; that you will know the forgiveness Jesus offers you; and that you will know the abundant life God has made available to you.
