Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and when He had found him, He said to him, “Do you believe in the Son of God?” John 9:35
All over the world there are hundreds of thousands of different kinds of people making every kind of claim imaginable under the sun about what they are able to do or who they are. While some may be true, many are false claims. Hearing many of these different claims, people have to choose whether they believe the words or not. They have to put some trust in the person that made the claims.
John had recorded that Jesus had healed a blind man. The man had been cast out of the temple and so Jesus found him and asked the man if he believed in the Son of God.
Over the years there have been many different men and women who have claimed to be able to save the world in various ways. Others have pointed to many different gods as to the ones that would have that ability.
With many of the beliefs in people and false religions that have failed to do what was claimed, many have grown skeptical about believing anything or anyone. One that is constantly in debate around the world is on who Jesus is and if He did and can do the things that are claimed of Him.
Each and every individual must make a choice as to whether one believes in the Son of God–Jesus, or not. This believing is not just believing whether He existed or not but believing His words and mission. It is believing that Jesus died on the cross and raised from the dead and can remove sins. It is believing He will return one day and take all believers home to heaven.
Hearing about different people, you will make choices as to whether you will believe in them and their mission or not. While most of these people may have some impact for a while in your life, none will have the impact of whether you believe in Jesus or not. Your choice with Jesus will impact not only the here and now, but for all eternity. It will determine where you will spend eternity once you die–heaven or hell.
With what you know about Jesus, do you believe in Him or just believe things about Him? Do you believe in the Son of God?
Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will understand the need to believe in Jesus; that God will open your eyes to the deception of the false beliefs of this world; and that you will faithfully serve God with all of your life.
