To grant us that we, being delivered from the hand of our enemies, might serve Him without fear, in holiness and righteousness before Him all the days of our life. Luke 1:74-75
Going through life, most people are searching for their purpose in life. Good things happen and they desire to know why and what to do from there, while dealing with the negative situations that appear all the time. Struggling, most people do not find any real purpose and just keep on meandering around in life from one place to another.
Luke records Zacharias praising God and stating that they would be delivered from the hand of their enemy for the purpose to serve Him without fear in holiness and righteousness.
The world pushes that the purpose in life is to be happy and have a good time. Although this sounds good, it often leads to depression. Pursuing happiness fails when trouble hits, and everything is going wrong.
Although most people are not under the physical hand of an enemy as Israel was when Luke was writing, people are under the hand of an enemy. That enemy is sin and the powers of the dark world.
Jesus came to the earth to die on the cross to pay for the sins of every person. Sin was removed so that one is no longer under the bondage of hand of the enemy–Satan. This allows one to serve God with no fear of death and to live in holiness and righteousness.
As a believer, one is given the ability to make the right choices to not sin. One is made pure and holy to be able to stand before God and serve Him. This new purpose is one that will last for eternity.
Jesus came to break the bondage that the enemy of sin has over your life and give you an eternal purpose for this life. As that bondage is broken, it opens the door for you to be able to serve God without fear of judgement or death. You are able to be holy as He is holy as you put on His righteousness and holiness.
Accept what Jesus has done for you and repent of your sins. Begin to choose to serve God with your whole life, making the choice to turn from all sin and being His witness.
What is your purpose in this life?
Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that God will break the hand of the enemy in your life; that you will serve God with no fear; that God will reveal your purpose He has for you; and that you will live in holiness and righteousness.
