“Is this not the carpenter, the Son of Mary, and brother of James, Joses, Judas, and Simon? And are not His sisters here with us?” So they were offended at Him. Mark 6:3
The world likes to find things to be offensive. If something or someone does not look or act just a certain way, it is considered offensive. Nearly every excuse under the sun can be found to be offended. When one finds someone or something offensive, they reject it and try to cancel it out. Rejection comes faster than acceptance.
Mark records the people talking about Jesus as just being a carpenter, the Son of Mary with brothers and sisters among them. They were offended of Him and rejected Him.
Every year around Christmas and Easter the world likes to talk about who Jesus is. They will talk about who He is as a person, but never see Him as the Messiah or Son of God. He does not fit their picture of who a Messiah should be or what one should look like.
As a result, the world likes to reject Jesus as just another good person, no one special and never as the Son of God.
One must take a look at Jesus as to what He did to see that He was different and not just another person. Looking at all the miracles He did, and His teachings show that He is the Son of God, the Messiah.
Jesus provides a life that no one else has ever been able to provide. There is a hope that one can have of something better. Instead of being offended that He is just a man and rejecting Him, people must believe in Jesus, be forgiven of all sins and saved.
Looking around you will be able to see many people who claim things about themselves that are not always true. They make themselves out to be much more than they really are. It is understandable to be offended by people that are like that.
Jesus, however, is everything that He says He is. He is the Messiah, Savior, the Son of God. While the world is offended by Jesus and rejects Him, do not allow yourself to become offended at who Jesus is and reject Him. Believe on His words. Be forgiven by Him and be saved.
Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will not be offended by Jesus and His teachings; that you will be a witness of who Jesus is; and that you will know the forgiveness and life Jesus offers.
