Healing For Damaged Emotions (book review)

The author, David Seamonds, is a pastor, missionary and counselor at Asbury Theological Seminary. He takes a look at how emotions take a play in the lives, hearts and minds of people. It is clearly shown that emotions are real and a part of the lives of people throughout the Bible.

Emotions can range from joy and happiness to anger and rage. The emotions a person has can have an effect later on in one’s life, both in the positive and the negative.

Some of the emotions that people deal with cause people to have low self-esteem of themselves. Looking at this, he shows how various people in the bible had low self-esteem and what it can cause later in life. He then shows how one can overcome it.

Next, he takes a look at perfectionism and how it looks and the effects it has on a person. As with the self-esteem, he also points out how one, with God, can overcome it. The final major emotion looked at is depression and how to overcome it.

David writes in easy to read and smooth flowing way that will touch the lives of most people. Very few people do not have some emotions that control them. Throughout this book he uses many scripture verses and examples of people going through what people today are going through with their emotions. There are also modern-day examples of people he has worked with going through these challenges and how they overcame them.

I highly encourage you to read this short book to see how there may be emotions you have that are buried down deep inside but may be controlling you in a negative way.
