But the saints of the Most High shall receive the kingdom, and possess the kingdom forever, even forever and ever. Daniel 7:18
Kingdoms and nations have risen over the centuries. Some have been very large, encompassing a huge portion of the world during their time. Most have been relatively small, containing just a small portion of the world. Very few have lasted over a thousand years. The majority have fallen, been taken over, or just crumbled on itself, never to rise again. Every nation desires to last forever and work towards that end.
Daniel records having a vision and an angel telling him the meaning. The angel tells him about four kings, but then tells Daniel that the saints of God will receive the kingdom and possess it forever and ever.
People gain things and desire to have them forever. Some will hold on to everything and never get rid of it. Yet, most things wear out or break, not lasting forever. Then every person also dies, leaving behind all that they had possessed for someone else to have.
Just as things fall apart and get tossed out, every nation on this earth will fall down and disintegrate to nothing. Nations have fallen in the past and also in recent history and will continue to fall.
There is one kingdom that will last for all eternity. That kingdom is God’s kingdom that He is currently building and has been building since the beginning of time.
The only people who can be a part of this kingdom are those have repented of their sins and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation. Not only can they be a part of God’s kingdom, but there will be a time in which they will possess it for all eternity.
Believers need to hold on to the hope Jesus provides in receiving all the promises of God in their future.
All the things that you currently possess will eventually go away in one way or another. One thing that cannot be taken from you is your salvation that Jesus has given you. Your salvation will include eternal life and possession of God’s kingdom. This will not occur during this life, but at the moment you die and step into His kingdom.
While the world and the material things are falling apart, hold on to the hope of God’s promise to you that you will possess eternal life and His kingdom some day.
Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will believe the promises of God; that you will hold on to the salvation Jesus has given you; and that you will wait for the promises of God to be fulfilled in your life.
