John 18:36 No Physical Fight

Jesus said, “My kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jewish leaders. But now my kingdom is from another place.” John 18:36

Jesus had been arrested and was going through a trial. The leaders did not believe that He was who He said He was. They were asking Him if He was the king of the Jews. Jesus points out that His kingdom is not one of this earth, it was not a physical kingdom, but one from somewhere else.

There has been times that Christians have been known to be violent in standing up for Christ. During the middle centuries, the church went on crusades in order to kill of the believers of false religions. It was a physical effort to build God’s kingdom on this earth.

In more recent times, there have been some “Christians” who have been extremely violent against unbelievers. Some have been known for blowing up abortion centers in an attempt to stop the sin going on there. In the process people are killed and not given the chance to believe in Jesus and change.

Jesus did not use any physical violence in the process of building His kingdom. He never harmed any person, no matter how good or bad that person was. His method of building His kingdom was using love.

Love is something that is not of this world. This world is ruled by the devil, who does not believe in love other than the love of self. The world claims to show love, but it is selfishness and hate for others.

People will not be won over to Jesus, by striking them and cutting them down. They can only be won over by showing love, mercy, and grace. These are the very same things that Jesus showed you.

The kingdom of God is from heaven. It is filled with love, not violence. You do not need to use force to get people into His kingdom.

Jesus did not need physical protection, because He was in God’s hands. In the same way, you do not need physical protection. You are in God’s hands and are of a different world.

Since you are from a different world, the ways of doing things are different. Live the life of love, mercy and grace as you reach out to build God’s kingdom, not force.

I pray today that you will know God’s love for all people; that you will use God’s love to reach the lost; that you will not fight in the physical against this world; and that God will strengthen you to show His love to this world.

Mark 1:15 The Good News

Shout Good News

“The time has come,” he said. “The kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe the good news!” Mark 1:15

When Jesus was around thirty years old He began His ministry. The first things He started to say was that the time had come, the kingdom of God was near and that there was good news to believe.

Everyone loves to hear good news. Watching the news on television very seldom shows good news. It is usually news about things that went bad: people in trouble, scandals, wrecks, killing, theft, divorce, violence, death, and wars. News is usually depressing.

The reason most news is negative is because of sin in this world. The majority of this world lives according the ways of the devil. They live in sin, which is always negative. So, when good news is heard, it is usually a breath of fresh air. Often people are amazed at the good news, yet, most news is still negative.

Today is no different than in the days Jesus walked on the earth and said these words. The world was living in sin and most news was depressing, negative news. He was bringing some good news.

The first is that God’s kingdom was near. God was revealing Himself even more to the people. Now God was going to live in each and every believer. He was going to start speaking directly to the people, rather than just through a high priest or prophet. God was bringing heaven down to earth. The door between Him and man was being opened.

The other good news was that a person could repent of sins, believe and he would be saved. In the Old Testament, under the Law, there were a lot of rules to follow and sacrifices to do. If any part of it was missed, there was only death and punishment to look forward to.

When Jesus came, He paid the full price and offered forgiveness. All one has to do is repent and believe in Him.

This is GREAT news! This is news that needs to be shouted out loud across the nations.

You have this inside scoop on this great news. Take time to spread that good news. Tell people about Jesus and what He has done for them.

The world is looking for some good news, you have it, will you tell them?

I pray today that you will believe in Jesus as your Savior; that you will repent of all your sins and accept His forgiveness; and that you will tell the world the good news of Jesus.

Revelation 11:15 He Will Reign Forever

“The seventh angel sounded his trumpet, and there were loud voices in heaven, which said: The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Messiah, and he will reign for ever and ever.” Revelation 11:15

The vision John is seeing is one in the future where God takes out His wrath upon all mankind. He destroys the nations. At this point God is now taking direct control and ruling over the entire world. Voices are heard rejoicing that the kingdoms of the world are now the kingdoms of Jesus.

Although this looks at the future ruling of Jesus over the entire world, it can be current rulings of Him over smaller kingdoms. The hearts of people are small kingdoms. They are ruled by one person, the individual himself.

The devil has deceived people into thinking that they are in control of their lives and can do whatever they want. The world says you have the rights to whatever you want. As king of yourself, you reign. Most people live like that, as though the world revolves around them.

As a believer, you must not be living like that. You did not start anything and you cannot finish it. Only God can do that. Jesus is supposed to be the one who reigns and is in control.

Allow Jesus to be the ruler of your kingdom–your heart and life. Let Him be the one to choose what you will say, do, or think.

When you choose your path on your own, you will mess up. It will lead down false paths. It will bring about pain and suffering, and ultimately death.

When you give kingdom control to Jesus, He will bring about life. You do not have to wait until you step into heaven to allow Jesus to reign. Give Him your kingdom now and let Him reign forever and ever.

I pray today that you will allow Jesus to be the ruler of your life; that you will trust Jesus for everything in your life; that your life will be one of praise to God; and that Jesus will reign supreme over your life.
