Nebuchadnezzar spoke, saying to them, “Is it true, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, that you do not serve my gods or worship the gold image which I have set up?” Daniel 3:14
Every day around the world there are people having all types of parties. Other people are invited to be at the party and to celebrate with the host of the party. The host will be saddened if one who is invited chooses not to come, and will be offended if one comes but does not participate in the party. It is expected for a person invited to come and participate.
Daniel records that Nebuchadnezzar had set up a golden statue for all to bow down and worship. He was told that three men did not bow down and worship, so he asked those three men, Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-Nego, if it was true.
The world is throwing a party every day. They are inviting everyone to be a part of it. This party is one to bow down and worship the things of this world.
Advertisements bombard the television and billboards across the nation saying that one needs something to really live life. Drugs, alcohol, murdering babies and immoral sexual activities are pushed as idols and one’s right to do everywhere one looks.
There are some believers who take a stand against these ungodly actions and will not participate in them. As that occurs, the world will ask the believer if they will not bow down and worship their false gods. When asked, every believer has to make a choice. Some will skirt around the truth to not truly answer, and some will suddenly choose to bow down.
True believers will boldly take a stand and not bow down. They will speak the truth boldly, knowing that God called them out of a life of sin and risk the wrath of the world.
Looking around you, you can see the world is trying to entice you to follow their ways of sin and death. The temptation to join the world is high and you have to make a choice as a believer as to what you will do. When you chose to reject the ways of the world, the world will ask you if it is true that you are rejecting their ways of living. At that point, you have to make another choice of whether you will speak boldly and truthfully about your not bowing down to their gods.
What will you answer the world?
