I will seek what was lost and bring back what was driven away, bind up the broken and strengthen what was sick; but I will destroy the fat and the strong, and feed them in judgement. Ezekiel 34:16
Every time a person loses something that person will do a search for it. The higher the value, the more the person will search. If something has happened to that item searched for, the person will often try to restore it back to its original condition. This can happen with physical things or with people that have left.
Ezekiel records God saying that He will seek the lost sheep and bring them back to fix what was broken and heal the sick. Then He will destroy those shepherds who were fat and strong and feed them with judgement.
From the beginning of the creation of the earth, God had a focus on having a close relationship with all humans. Every person that has walked this earth was created to be one of God’s many children. However, when sin entered the world, every one was lost and were scattered over the earth.
Immediately after Adam and Eve sinned, God began the plan to bring back every person to Him. God is in the work of seeking those who don’t know Him and are lost. As He finds His lost sheep, God will fix what is broken, strengthen and heal what is sick. Those who refuse to be found and repaired will face His judgement.
No matter where one lives, there is someone who is lost, broken and sick. Believers are to be doing the same thing God is doing. They need to be seeking the lost, fixing what is broken and healing the sick in His power. Doing this is what Jesus came to do.
If you consider yourself a follower of Jesus, someone, with God, has searched for you and let you know about Jesus at some point in your life. Today all around you are other people who are still lost, broken and sick that need to hear about Jesus. God is seeking for them and wants to use you to find them, fix them and heal them.
Do not be like the shepherds of Israel, who fed themselves and let the sheep get lost. Do the work of God and restore His kingdom on this earth.
Who can you find and help today?
Today I pray that you will know Jesus as Lord and Savior; that you will help God seek those who are lost, fix what is broken and heal the sick; that you will be led by His Holy Spirit; and that God will save many lives through you.
