2 Chronicles 15:2 Are You Seeking God?

He went out to meet Asa and said to him, “Listen to me, Asa and all Judah and Benjamin. The Lord is with you when you are with him. If you seek him, he will be found by you, but if you forsake him, he will forsake you.” 2 Chronicles 15:2

People are always searching for something. Nearly everyday someone has misplaced something and cannot find it, but searches for it. Many are searching for meaning and purpose in their life or for reasons why things are the way they are. Some find what they are looking for, while many can never find it.

Azariah told Asa and all the nation that God would be found and be with them if they sought Him, but if they reject God, He will reject them.

While many people believe that there is a God out there, they also believe that one cannot really find Him or know Him. He is believed to be an elite God who stays hidden and only works behind the scenes outside the lives of individuals and unknowable.

Although God does not stand out in the open to be seen, He wants to be found. However, He only wants to be found by those who are actually seeking to find Him. God wants to be wanted by those who want Him.

People are often torn between wanting the world and wanting God. In this way they often forsake God in searching for the things of the world. Although this breaks God’s heart, He allows them to go their own way and rejects them.

Believers, who are truly seeking to find God and follow Him, will find Him. Instead of being split between the ways of the world and the ways of God, they will put their focus upon God alone and will find and know Him and be known by Him.

What are you seeking in this life? Seek only that which will last for eternity. The things of this world are only temporary and cannot truly satisfy. God can be found and can give you everything you need and more. Everything that God gives you, that are of importance, will last for eternity, not just a few years.

God wants a relationship with you, but only if you really want a relationship with Him. When you seek Him, He will be found by you.

Are seeking for God?

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will seek God with all of your heart and life; that God will be found by you; that you will have a relationship with God; that you will know that God desires to be with you; and that you will know God’s presence in your life.

Luke 24:5 Looking For Life

In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead?” Luke 24:5

One thing that people are searching for all over the world is life. They want to have a life that is fulfilled and successful. Most want to be happy and be able to really enjoy life.

In the process of looking for this type of life, people will search any thing and every where. There are few things that people will not try in order to get the life that they are seeking.

After Jesus had died, some women went to His tomb, only to find He was not there. Two angels appeared to them and asked them why they searched for the living among the dead. Jesus was not there, because He had risen from the dead.

Searching for meaning, purpose and life in this world, is searching among the dead. Everything that the world claims to bring purpose and life is dead. Those things are focused on the here and now, the temporary, which is dead and will pass away.

The only thing that gives true purpose and life is seeking God through Jesus Christ. Instead of searching on the level in this fallen, dead world, one must look up to God.

Some in the church let themselves fall into the ways of the world, seeking temporal life, rather than leaning on God for all life. Instead of looking among the dead, believers must get among other believers, the living, and with God to find real life.

Jesus brings a life that is real and eternal. It will meet the desires of the heart more than any thing in this world could ever offer.

As you are going through life, you must decide what you are really seeking to find. If you are desiring real life, then you must turn away from the dead things of this world, that have absolutely nothing of value to offer you.

Turn your search to knowing God more and more each day. It is only Jesus who can offer true life. He rose from the dead and is alive to this day and will remain alive for eternity.

Jesus offers this same life to you today. All you have to do is seek Him, repent of your sins and accept the life He has for you. Don’t seek life among the dead.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will know the life God has for you; that you will seek purpose and fulfillment in God alone; and that you will live to serve God.

Psalm 139:1 God KNOWS You

Looking telescope

You have searched me, Lord, and you know me. Psalm 139:1

Everyone knows someone. However, the knowledge that a person knows about another person is usually superficial. Most people know only the surface of a person. Deep knowledge of the inner thoughts and feelings of a person is not always known.

It takes time and effort to really get to know how a person thinks and feels. The majority of people do not take that time or effort to really know a person.

It is common to hear of couples who have been married for years to suddenly learn something new about their spouse. No one can truly know all of the inner thoughts of a person.

People are also often scared if another person really knows who they are and what they think. They feel as if they will be rejected if the truth was really known.

David realizes that God had searched him and really knows him. David is also excited to know this information.

Having God really know the inner thoughts of a person is often a scary thought. People fear that God will reject them because of their evil, sinful thoughts that they have.

God knows those thoughts, even before a person begins to think of them, because God knows all already. Yet, despite knowing what a person has been or is thinking, God loves the person.

The great news is that, yes, God does know each person thoroughly, yet, He still loves with perfect love. It was in spite of those thoughts that God sent His Son Jesus to this earth to die on the cross. It was because of those thoughts that Jesus died on the cross to remove those sins.

Instead of fearing God knowing a person, he must rest assured that God knows and still loves.

As with all people, you have things in your past and even current life that is not always the best. There are things you have done or thought in secret that you know goes against God. Even though no person may know about those things, God does. God is not standing there now ready to judge you and condemn you, but to forgive you with great love, mercy and grace.

Rest in the fact that God does really know you better than you even know yourself. And in this knowing, He does love you with a dying, eternal love. Be willing to share all with God, because He already knows it.

I pray today that you will know God’s great love for you; that you will rest in God’s knowledge of you; that you will not try to hide things from God; and that you will grow closer to God.

Job 23:3 Sometimes God Is Silent

If only I knew where to find him; if only I could go to his dwelling! Job 23:3

Finding someone who does not want to be found can often be very difficult. It is easy for a person to hide in this world. This is even with the high technology of tracing someone through cell phones or credit cards. If one really wants to hide, it is possible.

There are times when some people want to just be alone. They go into hiding in various ways. Often stopping the normal things that they do. Other times they move to a new location to bring on anonymity.

Job had the problem of trying to find God in everything that was occurring in his life. Everywhere he searched, he was unable to find God. He wanted to talk with God about what has happening. Yet, during all of this God was silent and staying hidden, out of sight.

God is outside man’s physical realm of seeing, touching or hearing. With this being the case, if He does not want to be found, no one will be able to find Him.

There are times when God is silent. He chooses not to speak or reveal Himself openly. This usually occurs during a time of testing. He is testing someone to see how faithful he is to Him and how much he trusts Him.

As a believer is going through a harsh testing, God is standing back and watching what will happen. Too often, a person gives up on God, because he does not understand what is happening and loses faith in God. He no longer fully trusts God.

If a person holds on to what he knows about God, he will realize that God is faithful and will always be there, even when not seen or felt. God will not and cannot go back on His promises.

Just as Job held on to his faith in God, you must also hold on to your faith in God when going through a difficult time. God may be silent, but that is when He has His eyes on you and is proving how you will react to your situation.

Do not give up your faith in Him, but know that despite how it looks or feels, God is right there by your side. He will never leave or forsake you, though He may be silent for a time. Keep searching for Him and He will be found in the right time.

I pray today that you will have a personal relationship with God; that you will know His promises to you; that you will trust God in every situation; and that you will hear God’s voice every day.
