Jeremiah 35:15 Refusing To Obey

I have also sent to you all My servants the prophets, rising up early and sending them, saying ‘Turn now everyone from his evil way, amend your doings, and do not go after other gods to serve them; then you will dwell in the land which I have given you and your fathers.’ But you have not inclined your ear, nor obeyed Me. Jeremiah 35:15

Leaders of any business or organization put out certain rules and regulations. They expect those in the organization to obey those regulations. If not, then those who refuse to obey are removed.

Jeremiah records God telling the people that He had sent His prophets to tell them to turn from evil ways, do good and not go after false gods. If they did this, they would be able to dwell in the land given them. However, they did not obey God.

The world understands the need for people to be obedient to rules and regulations. Every organization from the smallest to the largest has rules laid out, some orally, some written, that guide what a person can and cannot do, what is expected of a person. Most are very quick to remove the person who chooses to not obey the rules laid out.

God has sent ministers to the church to tell the church how to live their lives before God, what God expects from each believer. Many chose not to obey God’s set of rules. This resulted in a generation being raised up that claimed to believe in God, but did not obey God, just as Israel had done.

Churches now have leaders who do not preach God’s whole word. They allow sin to be practiced inside the church by those claiming to be believers. The people no longer obey God but turn to selfish idols and false gods of this world.

Believers need to turn from evil and do good, rejecting false gods, and choose to obey God’s word.

Wherever you live or work, there are certain rules that you must obey. Most likely you obey the majority of those rules. In the same way you are willing to obey the rules of man, you must be willing to obey all of God’s rules.

Do not allow yourself to turn towards evil and false gods but keep your focus upon God and His ways of living. Dwell and prosper in the land God is giving you, a life of righteousness and holiness that will last forever.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will know what God’s rules are for you to live by; that you will obey all of God’s commands; and that God will give you the strength to turn from all evil and false gods.
