Isaiah 57:20-21 No Peace For Some

Sea waves at night

But the wicked are like the tossing sea, which cannot rest, whose waves cast up mire and mud. “There is no peace,” says my God, “for the wicked.” Isaiah 57:20-21

Fear is something that is rampant around the world during troubling times. People fear death, fear the economy, fear the government, fear sickness, fear diseases, fear others and many more things.

Peace is desired by most people, but is seldom truly found. In the night people toss and turn out of fear because of situations that they cannot seem to control. There is something wrong and most do not really know what it is or how to solve the problem.

During this time of fear, people try to do more things. They take drugs and do things to cover up some of their fear, but it is still there.

In the passage today, Isaiah says that the wicked are tossing like a raging sea. The reason for this is that there is no peace for the wicked.

It is easy for believers to understand why the wicked person has no peace, however, there are also many believers who do not have any peace. They are just like the wicked in tossing and turning at night or throughout the day.

The reason for their loss of peace is that often they have allowed sin into their lives. A believer has begun to accept a sin in his life, not really repenting and turning from it. This has caused him to become like the wicked of the world.

God is striving to draw him back. There is conviction in the heart, because he knows that what he is doing is wrong. In his heart there is no real peace.

The good news, however, is that the believer can turn from that sin and repent. God is there ready to forgive and move forward, bringing about real peace in the heart.

Examine your life and see if you have any real peace in it. Are you tossing and turning at night with sleep evading you? Is there fear building up a wall in your life?

If these are the cases, take a look and see if you are harboring sin in your heart. Is there anything God has told you not to do, or to do, that you did or did not do? If there is anything like that, it is sin. There will be no peace.

Turn away from sin and repent. God is there to forgive you and fill you with His peace today.

I pray today that you will know the salvation Jesus provides; that you will turn from all sin and turn to God; that you will know the true peace of God in your life; and that you will know the forgiveness and mercy of God.

Isaiah 55:7 Let There Be A Change

Bend in road

Let the wicked forsake their ways and the unrighteous their thoughts. Let them turn to the Lord, and he will have mercy on them, and to our God, for he will freely pardon. Isaiah 55:7

Changing personal ways is something most people do not ever want to do. It is something that is difficult and can often be somewhat painful.

Most people like the way they are and don’t see a reason to change. This can even be true when the change is for the better in the long wrong. Humans want the benefit immediately, not after a long time and lots of work. They want the benefits now without the hard work.

Through Isaiah, God calls those who are wicked to change their ways and thoughts and turn to Him. God is willing to have mercy upon them and free them from all guilt.

There are people every where who claim to follow Jesus, yet their lifestyle and thoughts do not show it. In fact, many will just claim that is who they are and they cannot nor will change. They stay living in a sinful way or keep on with the sinful thoughts in their hearts.

Churches are filled with people claiming to be believers, but are not willing to change. God has set a standard of living that is above the ways and thoughts of mankind. It is a holy and righteous standard of living.

One cannot earn his salvation by living a righteous life and turning away from sin, because that price was paid for by Jesus. However, turning from sin and changing the thoughts is a love response for what Jesus has done. It is showing that one is truly grateful for the salvation that Jesus has provided. It shows a change to a new creation in Christ Jesus.

As a believer, you have been forgiven and saved by Jesus. Your sins have been removed. Now it is time to change your ways and not go back to those sins or sinful thoughts. He will pardon you from your sinful ways when you turn from them.

Allow God to change you into the new image of Jesus. Be willing to forsake and turn away from old sinful habits and thoughts. Allow the Holy Spirit to change you from the inside out. Do not stay the same in the old sinful ways.

God is ready to have mercy upon you and freely pardon you. Let Him do so.

I pray today that you will know the forgiveness of Jesus; that you will allow Jesus to be your Savior; that you will turn from all sin towards God; that you will live your life as an image of Jesus; and that you will not abuse the mercy of God.

Psalm 60:1 God Does Get Angry

Lightning and lighthouse

You have rejected us, God, and burst upon us; you have been angry–now restore us! Psalm 60:1

Some people appear to never get angry. It seems as though they have perfect patience in every situation and that nothing will ruffle their feathers. Most people enjoy being around someone like this.

Others appear to always be angry. Every time a person just looks at them or says something, they get angry. Nothing can make them happy. These types of people are often avoided at all costs.

People do not like to be rejected or have someone angry with them. Sometimes it cannot be avoided, but most will strive to avoid causing conflict.

David had realized that God had been angry with His people. God had rejected them for a time, but now David was asking God to restore them.

It is common for people to act like God never gets angry, that He is always happy and just full of love. While it is true God is full of love, He does get upset with the choices that people make.

When a person chooses to walk in sinful ways and refuse to repent, God is not happy. When that person does all of this and still claims to believe in and live for God, He begins to get angry.

Although God gets angry, it is a controlled anger. He allows things to happen and consequences of those sins to come into the person’s life. These happen to draw the person back to Him.

God is waiting and ready to forgive and restore, as soon as the person is ready to be restored. He does not get angry quickly and He does not stay angry. As soon as the person turns towards Him, His anger subsides and He begins the restoration process.

If you are living in some sin, purposefully sinning, turn back to God. He is waiting there for you to return so that He can forgive you and restore you. He has a plan for your life and it is not one that He has planned in anger.

As you live in sin, you will not know the joy and peace of God. You will only feel His anger and lose His favor. Yet, God will take you back in an instant and restore you. His anger will go away immediately.

Living for God will bring you God’s great favor and building in your life. Are you allowing Him to restore and build you?

I pray today that you will turn to God from all sin; that you will know the forgiveness God has for you; that you will know the love God has for you; and that you will not live in a way that brings about God’s anger upon you.

Deuteronomy 5:32 Do Not Turn Right Or Left

Straight Road

So be careful to do what the LORD your God has commanded you; do not turn aside to the right or to the left. Deuteronomy 5:32

Following the commands of someone is not always fun or easy to do. Often people do not fully understand the reason for the command. Rules are often ignored or seen as suggestions, rather than a requirement.

In the workplace, there are many who will cut the corners on following the procedures for a job to be done. At the moment it looks as though everything will be acceptable and work out fine, because the rule did not make sense. Yet, later, there is often complications and problems, because a rule was not followed through.

Following the directions on a GPS is required, in order to get to the desired destination. To turn to the right or left, will cause one to get off the path, and the GPS has to constantly change the directions, thus the best path has not been taken.

After the Israelites had been given all of the commands of God through Moses, they were warned to be careful to do everything God had commanded. They were not to turn away from any of the commands for any reason.

Even though believers today are no longer under the Law as Moses and the Israelites were, they still must obey God’s commands. Each believer must still obey the commands of loving both neighbor and enemies, showing grace, showing mercy, and being a witness. These commands are not an option.

Along with those commands, God guides people today by His Holy Spirit, in what direction to take in life. God has a path for every believer to follow, and the believer must turn to the right or left off of that path.

God has a path for every person to follow, this includes you. You have a path for your life, given by God. God has commanded you to walk on the path He has for you. As you are walking that path, you must not stray off the path to the right or left.

Trust God’s directions in your life. He will not command you to do what is not best for your life and the best for His kingdom.

Do not allow yourself to be persuaded to turn to the left or right from God’s path for you. Keep a careful watch on the path God is leading you and obey all God has said to do.

I pray today that you will know the commands God has for you; that you will know the path God has for you; that you will not turn from any command God has given you; and that you will do His work on this earth.
