Thus says the Lord: What injustice have your fathers found in Me, that they have gone far from Me, have followed idols, and have become idolaters? Jeremiah 2:5
Finding fault in another person is often very easy to do. People look at others closely and see things that they have done wrong and accuse them. Very often people will leave or refuse to support those who have done something wrong. Understandably, people do not want to help those who have done wrong. They find judgement against them and don’t want anything to do with them.
Jeremiah quotes God asking the Israelites what injustice or wrong their fathers found in Him that they would leave Him and follow idols and become idolaters.
There are many nations throughout the world that had a period in their history in which the nation as a whole believed in and followed God. It was commonly accepted that people would be found in church on Sunday worshipping God. Idols and false god worship were frowned upon.
Although there were nations that had followed God, many have also turned their backs upon God and rejected God. People will often accuse God of doing something wrong in their choosing to reject Him. They blame Him for things that did not go exactly their way and begin to follow false gods. They choose to follow the ways of this world which only lead to death.
God has never done anything wrong, though it may not be what one wants. He always does what is right, pure and holy. No person has the absolute authority to demand how God should act, thus one cannot accuse God of doing wrong.
Instead of accusing God, one must choose to trust God’s actions. Some actions may be painful but are what is best for everyone involved in the long run.
You may have times in which you do not understand what God is doing or has done. The world will tempt you to blame God of injustice and push you to follow its false idols. Do not give in to the temptation to go against God but put your full trust in God and His ways. Follow only the One True God who brings life, not the false gods of this fallen world that only bring about death. God has never done anything wrong to you and never will. He is there to complete the work He has started in you.
Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will trust God’s actions in your life; that you will not accuse God of doing any wrong; that you will reject following the idols of this world; and that you will see God’s love in His actions in your life.
