Beyond The Solid Curtain (book review)
The authors, David and Beth Grant are the founders of an organization called: Project Rescue. It is an organization that is focused on rescuing women and children out of the sex trafficking and prostitution bondage.
In each of the chapters there is a short story of some girl or woman who was rescued out of the prostitution traps they were in. Some were sold into it by their parents to pay for household needs or debt, others were just captured and forced into it, and others were tricked into thinking they were getting a good paying job and an opportunity to rise up. In India and other nations, women and girls are looked upon as just property and an expense, so they can be sold for money to be used for sex to make more money.
They describe the dangers of trying to get out of the sex trafficking slave trade. Many horrors are described that the women and girls had to endure just to survive. While many are able to be rescued, there are some who end up going back into it because that is all they know, being raised up from a little child in it.
Project Rescue started in India but has also moved into several other nations around the world. They have different homes set up to take in women and children to get them out of the red light districts. They are given a basic education and training to do some type of work to support themselves. Over time they have learned how to work with local law enforcements and those in the sex trade industry to get women and children released.
Several stories of how the women and girl’s lives were changed are described. Stories of how they came to choose to believe in Jesus and were broken free of their horrible past. They are given a reason to live and have true joy in their hearts and minds set free from evil.
Due to the high level of pornography made available, the sex trafficking industry is the largest income industry in the world and is constantly growing. No country, including America, is free from it.
At the end of the book, the authors talk about many different ways that a person can help with Project Rescue and with stopping the sex trafficking industry where they live and around the world.
This book will bring tears to your eyes when you read some of the horrors that the girls and women had to endure, and these are described in a clean, non-pornographic way. It is a short, easy book to read, but hard on the heart.
I highly recommend reading this book and praying about what action God may have you take in helping stop this great evil in the land and around the world.
