Isaiah 54:8 Mercy After Wrath

“With a little wrath I hid My face from you for a moment; but with everlasting kindness I will have mercy on you,” says the Lord, your Redeemer. Isaiah 54:8

There are people who hold onto extreme anger against someone who has done something wrong for many years. Some will go to their deathbed in anger over the wrong done. The world desires and seek vengeance for anything done wrong, refusing to see the wrong that self has done to others. Kindness is talked about, but only when the other person deserves it and has done nothing wrong.

Isaiah quotes God in saying that He had some wrath against Israel and hid His face from them for a short time, but now with eternal kindness He will have mercy upon them.

It is easy for a person to see the wrong someone else has done and for a person to desire the books be thrown at the other person with very little mercy. People want to judge harshly those who have done wrong and the more damaging the wrong, the greater the judgement.

As people seek vengeance and justice against those who have wronged them, many forget what they have done against God. One sin, no matter how small, is great enough to warrant a death sentence upon the head of the one who committed it. The amount of sin against God that a person has done has be compounded thousands upon thousands of times over and over, each one deserving death.

During the time of living in sin, God calls to the person, desiring to have mercy upon the person. Many believers have turned their backs on God for a time, causing His anger and wrath to rise up against them. However, this is only for short time. As soon as one repents of the sin committed, God is ready and willing to have mercy and forgive the person.

Everyone has sinned against God and brought about His wrath for a time from Him, including you. You do not have to stay in His wrath but can repent of your sin and seek His kindness and mercy to forgive you of what you have done wrong. Do not hold back but repent and seek Him. Allow God to show you His kindness and mercy in forgiving you of your sin. See how great His kindness and mercy is.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will know the kindness of God; that you will know the mercy of God; that you will know the forgiveness of God; and that you will live to avoid the wrath of God.
