In this second book of the trilogy on the life of Noah, the authors, Tim Chaffey and K. Marie Adams, pick up the story right where the first book (Noah Man of Destiny) left off.
Noah begins to see the corruption of the world in the city in which he learned how to use metal in building his ships. King Lamech begins to institute worship of Nachash, which is the Great Deceiver–Satan. Noah had left that city back to his hometown, which still follows the Creator–God as a whole.
Noah hears from the Creator for the first time and is told about the coming judgement and flood. He does not understand what the Creator is fully telling Him, but he puts complete trust in Him.
Over time, his hometown begins to follow Nachash and King Lamech becomes ruler over his town. At that point, following the Creator is outlawed and many who follow Him are killed. Attempts are made at killing Noah. He makes the choice that he will follow the Creator no matter what. He also believes that King Lamech cannot really do anything to him since he was promised by the Creator to build the boat and be saved in the great flood that was coming.
This book gives a great look at what life may have been like in the time of Noah. It is also very eerily a similar view of what life is like in current times and the way nations are heading towards outlawing Christianity in various ways. Some of the things that are described in this book are things that occurred in real life today, but occurred after the book was written, almost prophetic.
As with the first book, the authors list and answer various questions that people may have about that time frame. One question asked was: Did women suffer miscarriage and childbearing troubles before the flood? They also list some of the scenarios in the story and how they link with what the bible actually says. Also, they are very clear that they are taking liberty at expounding on the life of Noah in ways that the Bible does not clearly talk about.
I highly recommend reading this book if you would like to hear a view on how life for Noah may have looked like, but it would be wise to read the first in the series before reading this one. It is a simple read, but very well written.
