Proverbs 7:25 Don’t Turn Or Stray

Do not let your heart turn aside to her ways, do not stray into her paths; Proverbs 7:25

When traveling on a long cross-country trip it is easy for a person to stray from side to side on the road or even to take a wrong turn. Things alongside the road can distract a person from where one desires to go. Many accidents occur on a regular basis because someone was looking at something on the side and not paying attention to where one was going.

Solomon had just described a harlot trying to deceive and lure men towards her. He now tells his son to not allow his heart to turn aside to her ways or to stray down her path.

Going through life one will encounter the world striving to lure people down a path towards death. Most people will not directly experience a harlot or prostitute trying to lure them, but they will see the same lures in other ways.

Along the same type of lure, pornography grabs men and women all the time. The world also lures with the joy of free sex in any way one can imagine with no apparent consequences in the moment. Although at the moment, one does not die, death is on its way when one walks down the path of this fallen world.

Believers will constantly be tempted to turn aside from the ways of God to those of the harlot, stepping into a moment of sinful pleasure. In that moment, hearts are captured, and chains are put on. This is the same with any sin against God.

Instead of straying down the wrong path, believers must be laser focused on following God and walking His path. Jesus led and is leading the way to eternal life. One must never turn aside or stray from His path.

The world is out to entice you to stray and turn aside from the path of God and walk down their path. It may be with physical women, as was with Solomon, or it may be in some other area of sin. This is a path of destruction and death, even though it looks good and rewarding.

Focus your heart on following God. Do not turn aside from following after God and stray down the fallen paths of this world. Live the holy and righteous life that Jesus purchased for you and gave you. Stay on the journey towards God.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that God will open your eyes to the false paths presented before you; that God will give you strength to stay on His path for you; and that you will live holy and righteous before God.
