He stores up sound wisdom for the upright; He is a shield to those who walk uprightly; Proverbs 2:7
College and university professors often teach that great wisdom can only be found in a few ancient philosophers. Various teachings and sayings are often looked at to find wisdom in how to live life. As they look to these ancient sayings, many hope to find protection and a shield from evil or bad, disastrous situations in their lives. They look to these ancient philosophers to guide them in their lives to being a good person with a good life.
Solomon says that God stores up sound wisdom and is a shield for those who walk an upright life.
The world believes that by living a ‘good’ life, one can be happy and good life and that this life is all that there is. Once one dies, everything is over or else it starts over again in a different way on this planet.
Although some of the wisdom of the ancient philosophers may be somewhat acceptable, it always falls short. Their wisdom is only somewhat good for this life alone. Once death occurs, the wisdom falls short and fails.
God, who is the Creator of everything, is willing to store up for wisdom for those who walk in His ways and follow Him. Since He created everything, God knows what is best for everyone in every situation, no matter what the situation is, good or bad. By His Holy Spirit and His Word, God is willing to guide each person in the best path to take in this life that will lead to an eternal life with Him. As the believer follows and trusts in God, He will guard one’s steps and keep one on the right path to holiness and perfection.
There are probably many days that you are seeking wisdom in how to accomplish something or deal with some situation in your life. The world will be quick to show you ways to walk that will only lead to your destruction in the end.
Do not waste your time seeking the wisdom of man but seek God’s wisdom. Make a choice to walk in His ways of holiness and righteousness, to do what is right in His eyes, and He will provide all the wisdom you need in every situation you meet. As you walk in His ways, He will guard your path and guide your footsteps on the straight and narrow path.
Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will seek God’s wisdom; that God will reveal His wisdom to you; that you will walk in His righteousness and holiness; and that God will be a shield for you.
