My son, if sinners entice you, do not consent. Proverbs 1:10
Advertisements abound everywhere trying to get people to purchase some object or service. These ads are seen on billboards, internet sites, television, magazines and nearly everywhere else. Nearly every time, the ad states that their product or service is the best and that one needs it, and that without it, one is missing out on something great and needed in life. It is presented as though everyone has it and no one wants to be left out. They strive to entice people to purchase the product at all costs.
Solomon warns his son that if a sinner entices him, he is not to consent to their desires.
The world wants everyone to follow them and their ways. It is as if their way is the only way. Everything is presented as a freedom or a right for a person to have or do.
With the ways of the world, there is no standard of morality. Anything and everything is acceptable. In this, sinful things and actions are presented as good and desirable.
Murder is promoted in abortion. Losing control of one’s self and mind is promoted in drugs and alcohol. Immoral sex is promoted in free sexuality and homosexuality. Pride of self is promoted in many different ways, placing one’s self above God. And the list of promotions go on endlessly.
They will do anything to entice one to follow their ways. Those who don’t follow their ways are cut down and ridiculed.
Sinners will strive to entice believers into following their wicked and evil ways and sadly, many believers fall for their enticement.
Instead of giving in to the sin, believers need to take a stand for God and His ways. They must not give in to sin and must flee all sinful ways and temptations.
Satan and this world are out to get you to give in to their wicked ways. Sin will be presented as good, desirable and deserved. Do not allow yourself to give into those ways and sin against God. You have been forgiven by Jesus and made a new creation in Christ Jesus for good works, not to continue in sin. Do not partake of the sin of this world but be holy and righteous unto God as a witness to this world of His transforming power. Lean on the Holy Spirit to give you strength to resist the temptations of this world. Don’t give in to sin.
Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that God will open your eyes to see the sinful enticements of this world; that God will give you strength to resist the temptation to sin; and that you will follow God in holiness and righteousness that Jesus provides.
