Mercy is something that everyone desires to receive. It is the not receiving the full level of punishment that a person deserves for doing wrong.
People will often make mistakes that will sometimes get them into some serious trouble. When that occurs, most people seek to have some mercy shown to them in dealing with the mistake. Very few people want to receive the full extent of punishment that is due them when a wrong has been done.
The psalmist gives praise to God because His mercy is great towards them and that His truth endures forever.
Every person is guilty at some point of doing something wrong. Some will never get physically caught in what was done wrong, while others will be caught and punished.
Although the world may not see the wrong done, God always sees and deals with it. Any wrong done is a sin against God and worthy of one thing only–punishment of death. Immediate death of separation from God and later physically eternal death with the severest of suffering for eternity.
When God corrects a person for doing something wrong, many feel that He is too harsh. Yet, if one is not killed immediately, God is having great mercy upon the person. God is also willing to forgive and forget the sin when one repents of the sin and believes in Jesus. That is a mercy that is undeserved.
Since God has such great mercy, the believer should be willing to give Him praise at all times. Not only just give praise, but to shout it from the top of one’s lungs for all the world to hear. God has that same mercy available for all who will believe and all need to hear.
Every day you make a mistake and sin against God in some form or another, sometimes by mistake, other times on purpose. Each and every time you sin, you deserve God’s worst punishment possible. Yet, God does not destroy you, but lifts you up, having great mercy upon you to restore you and build you back up. Choose today to give God praise for His mercy upon you, even during difficult times, because it could be a lot worse since you deserve death and eternal punishment.
Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will know God’s mercy towards you; that you will repent of all sins against God; that you will know His forgiveness; and that you will praise God for His mercy and love towards you.
