Psalm 52:3-4 Loving Evil More

You love evil more than good, lying rather than speaking righteousness. You love all devouring words, you deceitful tongue. Psalm 52:3-4

The world is quick to talk about love and the need for everyone to love everyone else, regardless of who that person is or what that person does. Without true discernment, a person may believe that the world loves to love others. On the surface that is what it appears to be like. While it is true that the world has a form of love, it is usually not the correct type of love or love for what is right.

David describes the mighty man who boasts in evil for loving evil more than good, loving lying more than speaking truth and loving devouring words.

Without God there is no foundational standard on which one must stand. Everything is based upon the moment and what one desires. Words and phrases have their meanings changed and are corrupted.

As the world talks about loving others, they are in reality hating and destroying others. Promotion of sin is acceptable, while holding to Godly, holy standards is classified as hate. Drugs, drunkenness, immoral sex, violence, alternate lifestyles, gender change, cursing, lying, stealing, cheating, gossip and much more all promoted as good things.

It is understandable that the world loves these evil things. However, there are many in the church who are also loving these things. Some churches will also promote sin as good, loving evil more than righteousness.

At the same time, believers who speak out against sinful activities and lifestyles are called ‘haters’. The Bible is classified as outdated and hating.

God is love and loves the world. He has set a standard to live by that will bring about eternal life. The sin and evil of the world will only bring about death. Believers need to love God and His standards more than the evil of this world.

The world is going to try to get you to love its evil ways. People will try to deceive you into thinking that evil is good and righteousness of God is bad. Keep your eyes and mind focused upon God and His word and standards. Do not allow yourself to be led to think evil is good in any way at all. All that evil will do is give temporary pleasure and then death.

What do you really love?

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will know God’s standards for living; that you will love the things of God; that you will hate and flee all evil; and that you will speak God’s truth everywhere you go.
