Job 22:15-16 Following Dead Paths

Will you keep to the old way which wicked men have trod, who were cut down before their time, whose foundations were swept away by a flood? Job 22:15-16

Well worn paths are easy for people to continue to walk down. There are very few to no obstacles in the pathway to stop or slow someone down or that need to be cleared out. People choose those paths often because others have cleared the way and made it easier to walk on. Blazing a new path is difficult and hard to break through, taking time and effort and is often lonely.

Eliphaz falsely accuses Job of continuing to walk down the path wicked men have walked before him. He asks Job if he will continue on those paths where the wicked were cut off and their foundations swept away.

The majority of the world walks a path of wickedness and sin with no vision of God in their lives. Everything is about self and pleasing self, over others and rejection of God and His ways. It is an open and visible path no matter where one lives or looks, but leads to death.

Some believers in the church have chosen to continue to walk down that path, even though they have claimed a belief in Jesus. It is an easy path to walk, because everyone is doing it. They are just going with the flow of society.

God has a straight path for believers to walk. It is not always clear, nor easy. It is filled with trouble and challenges as Jesus has promised. However, in spite of all the troubles, it is also filled with hope, a future and an abundant and eternal life.

One must be willing to refuse to walk the dead path that the world is walking on and choose the path of God.

Each and every day you must be willing to choose what path you are going to walk that day. The world will lay out a path that appears to be easy and fun but ends with death apart from God. At the same time, God lays out a path for you that may be difficult and challenging but is filled with life.

Do not allow yourself to be deceived into walking the path of the world filled with temporary pleasures and death in the end. Choose to follow God and walk His path for you.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will know the path God has for you to walk; that God will give you strength to walk His path; that you will know the abundant life God has for you; and that God will keep you from being deceived by the world.
