1 Kings 6:20 Covered With Purity

The inner sanctuary was twenty cubits long, twenty wide, and twenty high. He overlaid the inside with pure gold, and he also overlaid the altar of cedar. 1 Kings 6:20

Inside of some famous places throughout the world, the builders choose to have the best materials. The desire is to look ornate, fancy and perfect with no limits on the cost spared.

Some of these places appear to be completely covered in gold and can often be found in homes of national leaders or in the capitals of nations. This shows high value, regardless of the character of the owner.

Solomon had the temple built. In the inner sanctuary he had it overlaid with pure gold.

Very few people can afford to have their homes overlaid with gold. For most people, if they have any gold, it is very little and often found in some jewelry. Often people use a fake gold to make something looker of greater value.

Every person has made a choice to sin at some point in his life. All sin brings about darkness and corruption in their hearts, minds and bodies. To make themselves look better, many people try to do good things, putting on fake gold.

Instead of using fake idols and false righteousness, true believers repent of their sins and take on the pure righteousness of Jesus. They become the temple of God, ordained with the pure gold of righteousness and holiness from Jesus on the inside of their lives.

Their corrupt hearts are cleansed from the dirt of sin and made pure and shiny before God and man. Hearts will reflect the purity of God, rather than the corrupt and dirty sin of the world. This is a work of God upon their hearts and lives, not of their own personal doing.

The moment you chose to believe in Jesus, He made you pure and holy. You have become the temple of God for Him to dwell in. Just as Solomon overlaid the inner sanctuary with pure gold, God has overlaid your heart and life, the inner sanctuary, with His pure holiness and righteousness.

Do not allow yourself to be covered with the sin of this world, but seek to be pure gold before God, holy and righteous. All the glitter and glamour of this world will fade away.

Be changed and transformed into a new creation, covered in God’s gold.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that God will purify you from all sin; that you will be filled with God’s holiness and righteousness; and that you will shine God’s purity for all the world to see.
