Deuteronomy 4:9 Don’t Forget

Only be careful, and watch yourselves closely so that you do not forget the things your eyes have seen or let them fade from your heart as long as you live. Teach them to your children and to their children after them. Deuteronomy 4:9

All around the nation and the world there are memorials placed to help people remember certain events or people. This is often done to remember something very good to keep it going or something bad to prevent it from occurring again.

Some people will hold on to those memories, while others will ignore and forget them.

Moses told the people to be careful to remember the things that they had seen and to teach those things to their children and grandchildren.

While traveling through the desert wilderness, the Israelites had seen many different miracles of God in their lives. God had revealed Himself to them in provision of food, water, clothing and protection from enemies.

Any believer who trusts in God and follows Him will be able to look at his life and see God’s hand at work in it. He will be able to see God work miracles of provision, protection, healing and more.

Often people forget what has happened or ignore God’s hand in what occurred. Forgetting these things will cause one to fear when a new trouble arises. Instead of trusting God, one will begin to complain against God or turn to other false gods. It will give the enemy a foothold in one’s life, pulling him away from God.

Every believer needs to remember what God has done in his life and tell others about it. This will strengthen one’s own trust in God and build up trust in God in others. Nothing is greater than the testimony of the one who actually experienced the incident.

Take a moment to stop and think about all the things God has done in your life. Some of those things may be great miracles, while others are just quiet provisions behind the scenes. Make a list to see how many things God has already done. Now remember those things when a new trial comes up.

Do not allow yourself to get discouraged or to cower in fear forgetting what God has done and can do. Trust God. Then go and tell others what God has already done, so that others may also learn to trust in God.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will know what God has done for you; that you will remember the work of God in your life; that you will trust God with your whole life; and that you will tell others of what God has done in your life.
