Philippians 2:14 Doing Things With The Right Attitude

Do everything without grumbling or arguing, Philippians 2:14

One thing that can be heard nearly everywhere one goes is grumbling or arguing. Very few people are content with their bosses or the job that they are required to do.

Break rooms are filled with people complaining about what they have to do or complaining about their supervisor. As they are discontent and grumbling, many will also choose to argue about what they have to do. If let go long enough, fights will break out or people quit and run away from it.

Right after describing the attitude Jesus had with going to the cross, Paul tells the people to do everything without grumbling or arguing.

Those in the world are not the only ones that will grumble and complain on a regular basis, many believers will act in the same way. Churches are filled with people who grumble about things in the church or the way things are going. Not only do they grumble about the people in the church, but they grumble about how God does or does not do something.

Along with the grumbling, many will also be arguing with someone or with God. Severe arguments break out on how to do or not do something, and many will leave the church. Some will be like Jonah and argue with God and get mad at Him.

Both arguing and grumbling puts oneself in the seat of control and removes God from being the Head. It says that God does not know what is best.

Jesus went to the cross to pay for the sins of every person without grumbling or arguing because He knew the Father knew what was best to be done. The attitude of the believer should be the same in every area of his life. Everything should be done with joy.

You may find yourself choosing to grumble or complain because things are not going the way you think they should. Stop for a moment and think about who is really in control, you or God.

If you truly believe that God is in control, then allow His joy to fill you in all circumstances, knowing that what is happening in your life is for your best interest. Choose to stop grumbling and arguing with others or with God and live life to the fullest with the joy, strength and peace God has for you.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will know that God is in control; that you will trust what God has put in your path is the best for your life; that you will find joy in living for God; and that you will be thankful to God for what He brings you through.
