Galatians 3:13 Redeemed From The Curse Of The Law

Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: “Cursed is everyone who is hung on a pole.” Galatians 3:13

Regardless of where a person is from, no one likes to have a curse upon them. Everyone likes to have blessings and favor, not condemnation.

In every nation, state or city around the world there are rules to be followed. Most people are willing to follow most of those rules, because not following them brings judgment. They strive to live the ‘good’ life of a ‘good’ person.

In talking about faith and the law, Paul points out that Christ became a curse to redeem people when He died upon the cross.

God made the law so that every person would know and understand what He desires. Part of the law was that if one part of it was broken, not followed, then that person must die.

This is where the curse of the law comes in. No one is able to perfectly obey the entire law his entire life. With this occurring, every person was cursed to die because each one broke the law.

Knowing that this was to occur, God had already planned to send a redeemer, one to pay the price for breaking the law. At the perfect time, God sent Jesus to live on this earth while perfectly obeying the law, then to die upon a cross to pay for the sins of every person for breaking the law.

According to God’s law in Deuteronomy 21:23, Jesus was cursed by God when He hung upon the cross. As Jesus became that curse, everyone who chooses to believe in Him would be released from that curse. All sins would be wiped away forever, giving the believer eternal life.

Just as everyone else has sinned against God by breaking one of His laws, you also have sinned. Doing this has caused you to be cursed with death as punishment. Nothing you can do can change that curse, other than believing in what Jesus did for you.

Hanging on the cross, Jesus paid the price for your sins to remove the curse upon your life. He is ready and willing to forgive you of your sins and give you eternal life. That is the full purpose of why He hung on the cross and died for you.

Accept what Jesus did and be redeemed.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will accept the forgiveness Jesus provides; that you will not strive to work for salvation, but believe in the work of Jesus; that you will fully understand what Jesus did for you; and that you will live to obey and serve God with all of your life.
