Brothers and sisters, choose seven men from among you who are known to be full of the Spirit and wisdom. We will turn this responsibility over to them Acts 6:3
Every business place that is looking to hire someone has a list of what they are looking for in the new hire. The purpose of having this list is to give them a guideline as to who to look for that would have the capabilities to do the job as needed.
As this is done, some will be weeded out, while another will get the job. Some fit the job description, others do not.
Work was needed to be done in getting food to some widows. The church decided to choose seven men who are known to be full of the Spirit of God and wisdom to do the work.
Some people are willing to do any work, regardless of what it is or how much they know about it. Although the eagerness to work is great, sometimes it is not enough to be able to actually get the work done correctly. More is often needed.
In the church some people are extremely eager to do ministry, but do not have the leading of the Holy Spirit or the wisdom needed. Even though someone like that may be able to do the job a little, when one is being led by the Holy Spirit and is using the wisdom of God, a lot more can be done, more efficiently.
Many people in the church may be saved, but are not always allowing themselves to be led by the Holy Spirit. They are just believing in Jesus and not much more. They are not allowing themselves to be used by God as much as is possible.
Being led by the Holy Spirit and full of God’s wisdom brings one to a greater level.
You may be a believer who has learned a lot, but are you one who is full of God’s Holy Spirit? Are you being led by His Holy Spirit, or by your own experience and thoughts?
Allow God to fill you and lead you with His Holy Spirit. As you do this, God will be able to do so much more in and through you than ever before.
If you were in the church in Acts, would they have been able to choose you?
Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will be filled with God’s Holy Spirit; that you will be led by the Holy Spirit; that you will have God’s wisdom; and that you will do the work needed by God for you to do.
