Acts 1:24-25 Seeking God’s Choice

Then they prayed, “Lord, you know everyone’s heart. Show us which of these two you have chosen to take over this apostolic ministry, which Judas left to go where he belongs.” Acts 1:24-25

Everyday every person on this earth has to make choices. Some of those choices are difficult, while others are easy to make. Some of those choices have very long lasting effects, while others have very short term effects.

Most people choose according to what they see as the best benefits in their own eyes. Rarely will they seek outside advice on the choice to make.

After Judas had died and Jesus left the earth, the disciples wanted to replace Judas in the ministry. They sought God’s direction as to who to choose.

There are many times when there is a choice to be made that comes down to two very good choices. Both look so good that it is difficult to know which one to choose.

When times occur like this, people may flip a coin to randomly choose one over the other. While this may look good, it may be that it is not choosing what God really wants.

When faced with a choice, the first thing that a believer should do is seek God’s direction in it. If he has studied God’s word, he will know a lot of what His word may have to say about making the choice. Then if he is continually in prayer and being led by the Holy Spirit, he knows that God will guide him in the choice.

God will always make a choice that is best for the one needing to make it and for those affected by the choice. He sees the bigger picture of every person and eternity and is willing to show which way to go.

Going through life, you will have to make many choices, some simple and some very difficult. In order to be ready for making a choice, be sure to study God’s word on a regular basis to have a base understanding of what God may want. Then allow yourself to be led by the Holy Spirit in all that you do.

At the moment of making a decision, pray that God will guide you in making the correct choice. God is waiting and ready to guide you in His ways, which are above your ways.

Will you make the right choice?

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will seek God in making choices; that God will reveal His ways of doing things; that you will would work the way God desires of you; and that you will be led by the Holy Spirit in every choice you make.
