1 Peter 1:3 Praise God For A Living Hope

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 1 Peter 1:3

Most people like to have a hope that is real. They want to be able to see that things will get better than what they are at the moment.

In desiring this hope, people will try nearly anything and everything to find it. The majority of the time, the things tried are temporary and failures. They will give hope for a moment, but soon fade away, pushing a person back into depression or searching again for something new.

Peter gives praise to God for His mercy in providing new birth to believers. This birth is into a living hope that is only found in the resurrection of Jesus.

As the world is seeking purpose and hope, the believer has been graced with being able to find both. However, even though believers have access to this new and living hope, many do not grasp it. Instead of living in this hope, they hold on to traditions, laws and commands. They hold on to earning their salvation, rather than accepting it.

No one deserves to have any hope once he has sinned against God. Yet, God is full of perfect love and mercy. He provided the hope of live through Jesus Christ. This is proven by the resurrection of Jesus from the dead.

If Jesus can be raised from the dead, the believer can know that he will be changed and also raised from the dead of sin. This is a living hope that a person can live in today, not fearing what this world may bring, but knowing what Jesus is bringing and providing.

Knowing this will cause the believer to praise God for this living hope.

As you are going through this life, put your hope and trust in Jesus Christ. He did not raise from the dead just to leave you in sin and death, but to give you a new live that is filled with living hope and a future.

Realize what God has provided you with, that you did not deserve. Take time to give God praise for His mercy upon you and the gift He has given you. You have a hope that the world cannot know, nor can the world take it away.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will know the hope you have in Jesus; that you will know God’s mercy upon you; and that you will praise God for what He has done in your life.
