Therefore encourage one another with these words. 1 Thessalonians 4:18
All over the world there are messages of doom and gloom. There is sickness, pain, suffering, wars, disasters, death and more. With all of these things, there appears to be no hope with only a future of death.
The world is in a panic mode trying to solve the issues of the world dying. Despite all their solutions, they are still failing to gain the peace that they are seeking. No one is able to encourage anyone else, because there is no lasting hope that is available doing things the way the world does.
Paul tells the people to encourage each other with the words he has given, that there is a hope that is eternal.
As the world does not understand death and fears death, the believer does not have to fear death. Even all the suffering that the world fears, the believer does not have to fear it.
Every person will have times of suffering in his life, whether he is a believer or not. And with the exception of two people, every person will ultimately face death some day in his life, whether he is a believer or not.
The difference for a believer is that he has hope in either circumstance. One can know that despite the painful suffering in the moment, it will come to an end. He can also know that death is only the doorway into eternal life.
There will come a day when Jesus returns and takes all who have believed in Him to heaven with Him, removing all pain and suffering for the rest of eternity.
As believers, each one should encourage each other with these words, that there is a future hope, no matter what the world is saying.
Recognize in your own life that there will be problems and sufferings as long as your are alive on this earth. There will also be death all around you and one day will include you.
Instead of living in fear of the suffering and death, live your life for God. Be encouraged, knowing that all of these things are temporary. Death may take you today, but Jesus will come to give you back eternal life.
As you are encouraged by these words of hope, be an encouragement to others. Remind them of what they have or can have in Christ Jesus our Lord and Savior.
Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will know the hope you have in Jesus; that you will be encouraged by knowing the future you have with God; that you will encourage others with the hope of eternal life with Jesus; and that you will look forward to an eternal life with God.
