Acts 19:15 Who Are You?

One day the evil spirit answered them, “Jesus I know, and Paul I know about, but who are you?” Acts 19:15

Knowing a person’s name is one thing, but really knowing the person is completely different. It is common for thousands of people to know about some famous actor. They can talk about many public things he has done, his birthday, age, and some other details. However, very few actually know him.

The famous people will very rarely know the names of most of their fans. There is nothing to make the fan stand out and be known.

There were some sons of Sceva trying to cast out some demons by using the names of Jesus and Paul. The demons knew Jesus and Paul, but did not know the sons and later beats them down.

In a war, each side is aware of certain people or groups. They know who really knows what is going on and how to fight the battle. The enemy often knows who is really a threat and who to ignore.

There is a spiritual war going on everyday, all over the world. This is a battle of the demonic world led by Satan against the armies (believers) of God.

Some people will claim to believe in Jesus, but are not really living for God or obeying Him. These are people who are dressed in battle gear, but have no real power. The enemy does not know who they are.

Every believer who lives for and obeys God is dressed in the armor of God. He will have God’s Holy Spirit residing in him, giving him authority and power over the enemy. Walking and living this way will make his name known to the enemy as a real threat.

You may claim to be a believer in and a follower of Jesus. The real test is if you allow God’s Holy Spirit to guide you and that you obey Jesus.

Do not allow yourself to go out each day as a believer in Jesus just in word only. Jesus saved you and gave His Holy Spirit to you so that you may be a warrior on the frontlines of this spiritual war.

As you trust in and obey God, you will receive power and authority over the enemy. You will become known to the enemy as a real threat. Ask yourself, before the enemy does, who you are?

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will know who you are in Christ; that you will be filled with the Holy Spirit; that you will be God’s warrior against the enemy; and that the enemy will know you belong to God.
