Take words with you and return to the Lord. Say to him: “Forgive all our sins and receive us graciously, that we may off the fruit of our lips.” Hosea 14:2
Admission of being wrong is a very difficult thing for many people to do. Often they fear that they will be cast out, condemned, or rejected if they admit that they did something wrong. However, more often, people feel as if they were not wrong.
People do not like to admit that they were wrong, because it means they have a fault and are not perfect. It reveals something bad inside of them. Their ‘good’ appearance is no longer any good.
Hosea tells the people to take some words with them and return to God. They are to request forgiveness and reception back into His household.
While many believers are willing to confess their sins to God, there are some that have allowed themselves to slip into sin to the point that they feel they cannot confess any more. Their guilt is so heavy upon their hearts that they cannot forgive themselves, nor see that God will forgive them.
But God is a loving and compassionate God who is ready and willing to forgive. God was so willing to forgive a person of his sins that He was willing to send His one and only Son, Jesus to die upon the cross to make it possible. Jesus went willingly to the cross so that He could forgive every person of their sins.
No matter how far a believer has fallen away from God and into sin, he can always return as long as he has breath to ask for forgiveness. God will immediately accept him back into His household. All it takes is for the fallen person to ask.
You may have fallen away from serving God. You may have allowed sin to overcome you and pull you away from God.
It is not over. God is waiting for you to return. He is not waiting for you to return so that He can strike you, but so that He can forgive you and build you back up into the person you were created to be.
Take the time to admit to God your sins and seek His forgiveness. Even if you have not walked away from God, you can confess any sins you have done. God is waiting for you to continue to make you more like Jesus everyday.
I pray today that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will not fear His condemnation; that you will know God’s love for you; that you will confess everything to God; and that you will know God’s acceptance of you.
