Psalm 124:8 The Real Help

Hand reaching out

Our help is in the name of the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. Psalm 124:8

There are some people who think that they can do everything on their own and do not need help from anyone. However, at some point in their lives every person needs some help from someone or something. No one is able to completely do everything without the help of someone else.

Often this help is looked for in money, position, or other people. The people in this help can be individuals, groups, organizations, businesses, or even governments.

While people, governments and organizations can help some, often they fail at being able to really help. The amount that they can help is limited or temporary and often falls short of what is really needed.

The psalmist points to God for his help. He realizes that without God’s help, they would not have made it or survived.

God is the only one who is in full control of every situation that a person can go through. He is the only one who has all the power and strength needed to for a person to get through a tough situation in life.

The ultimate need for help for every person is removal of sins in order to provide eternal life. This is only done through the work of Jesus Christ upon the cross. In order to access this removal of sins, one must believe in what Jesus did for him. If He created the heavens and the earth and if He can provide the removal of sins, there is nothing that Jesus cannot do for a believer.

The world and people will fail and fall short in helping someone. Only Jesus remains forever and through every situation. He is faithful to provide what is needed in helping a person.

As a believer, when you are going through a tough situation, the first thing you must do is look to God for your help. Do not start with looking to people or organizations for help. These will fail you, but God will not.

God is waiting on you to call upon Him in your time of need. Trust that He knows what He is doing and will provide what you need when you need it. God is the only one who will remain by your side day and night, through thick and thin. He is your ultimate helper. Give Him a chance to help today.

I pray today that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you find the help you in need in God; that you will trust in God’s help; and that you will be a witness of God’s helping power in your life.
