Ezekiel 14:17-18 Only One Allows For Salvation

“Or if I bring a sword against that country and say, ‘Let the sword pass throughout the land,’ and I kill its people and their animals, as surely as I live, declares the Sovereign LORD, even if these three men were in it, they could not save their own sons or daughters. They alone would be saved.” Ezekiel 14:17-18

God was telling Ezekiel who could be saved during the judgment against a nation. He lists Daniel, Noah, and Job as the three men, who were known to be righteous, God-fearing men, whom God listened to. These men would be saved, but they would not be able to save any of their children. They would be saved on their own merit alone.

There are people who grow up in homes with parents who believe in God. They grow up being brought to church, but do not have a relationship with God. It is just something that they do, not who they are. They go because mom and dad told them that they must go.

Many of these very same people go to church believing that they are saved. The parents believe that they are saved also. Yet, they do not have a relationship with God. They have never asked for forgiveness for their sins and are not really following God. There is no real salvation.

People cannot be saved on the merit of someone else. It is an individual thing for each person. There will be a day when Jesus returns to judge the world. Those who have chosen to not believe in Him, will be destroyed and cast into hell, separated from God for all eternity.

Jesus had even said that there would be many who claimed to know Him, but that He never knew them. The reason He does not know them is because they never did His will.

You are not saved by what you do, it is only by faith in Jesus that you are saved. However, you prove your faith in Jesus by what you do. You cannot hang onto what your parents or someone else has done to get saved.

What would Jesus say about you or to you if He was to return today?

Would you be found true and faithful to Him?

Or would He say He does not know you?

I pray today that you will know Jesus in a personal way; that you will prove your faith by serving Him; that you will not rely on salvation because of another person; and that you will be His witness in this world.
