2 Chronicles 16:9 Looking For Committed Hearts

“For the eyes of the LORD range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him. You have done a foolish thing, and from now on you will be at war.” 2 Chronicles 16:9

Asa had started off is reign as king of Judah serving God very well. Later on, Baasha, king of Israel, chose to fight against him. Instead of going to God for help, he went to Ben-Hadad, king of Aram for help. God sent a prophet to Asa, condemning him for his actions, and stating that from that point on he would be at war. Asa never followed God anymore the rest of his life.

There are many people who start out, at some point early in their life, following God very well. They go to church every time the doors are open, they read their Bible daily, pray constantly, and tell others about Jesus. They have started out on the right track.

Later, in life, however, something comes up, a catastrophe, sickness, loss, or some major threat, and they choose to do things their own way. The decision to stop listening and following God starts. One who had been known to be on fire for God, is all of a sudden not living for God.

God is looking for people whose hearts are committed to Him. They have set their minds on following Him, no matter what happens.

As a fallen human being, you cannot have the strength in yourself to do everything right or to do what God wants you to do. You will fall and fail, just like Adam did. You need God to hold you up.

In order for God to hold you up, you must seek Him and rely on His strength. It is only with God that all things become possible.

You have to choose today that you will do only what God wants you to do, and do it in the way He wants you to do it. As you do that, God will step in and give you the needed strength and favor for it to happen.

Do not become like Asa and forget about God. Do not allow yourself to fall away from serving God with all of your heart, mind, soul, and strength. Have a fully committed heart to God. Let God keep you going strong.

I pray today that you will have a heart that is committed to God; that you will trust in God’s strength, power and ways; that you will not turn away from God; and that you will not do anything foolish.

  1. Hi ,

    ( 2 Chro.16: 9) states,
‘For the eyes of the LORD
run to & fro throughout the whole earth, to shew him
    self strong in the behalf
    of them whose heart is
    perfect toward him. ‘

    (Jeremiah 17: 10)says,
    ‘I the LORD search the
    heart ‘.

    Question is :
    How can we keep
    our hearts perfect
    toward God ?
    ##############

    In answer, these
    are the explanatory
    verses _:

    1) By knowing God &
    keeping faith on Him.

    ( Isaiah 43:10 ) says,
    ‘ Ye are my witnesses,
saith the LORD, & my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know
& believe me & understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me.’

    (Hebrews 11:6)states,
‘ And without faith it is
impossible to please him, for who ever would draw near to God must believe that he exists & that he rewards those who seek him.’

    2) ‘Being holy in conduct
& by keeping the  conversation aright.’

    (1 Peter 1:15-17) says,
    ‘As He who called you
is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct.’ And,

    (Psalm 50:23) states,
‘Whoso offereth praise glorifieth me & to him that ordereth his conversation
aright will I shew the salvation of God.’

    3)Abiding in Jesus
    (John 15:4)

4)Die to self, loving Jesus more than anyone else &
    Committing everything to
    Him. ( Psalm 37: 5 )

    (Matthew 10:38) says,
‘Jesus said, whoever does not take his cross & follow me is not worthy of me”.

    5) Keeping the heart
    for Him.

    (Isaiah 29:13)states,
“Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth & with their lips
do honour me, but have removed their heart far
    from me & their fear
    toward me is taught by
    the precept of men”.

    6) ‘Without keeping any wickedness in mind.’

    ( Job 11: 11) states,
‘ For He knoweth vain men: he seeth wickedness also.

    7) Seeking His face continually.

    (1 Chro.16: 11)states,
‘Seek the LORD & His strength, seek His face continually.’

    8)’ With humility.’

    .(James 4 :10 ) states,
‘Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.’

    9) ”Worshipping him in
    spirit and in truth.’
    (John 4 : 24 )

    (1 John 2:28-29) says,
‘The LORD is nigh unto all them that call upon him,
    in truth.’ (Psalm 145:18)

    10) ‘ Not rashing with the
    mouth, but keeping the
    words few .'(Eccle.5 :2)

    11)) Finding great delight
    in His commands.’

    (Psalm 112:1) states,
    ‘Blessed are those who
fear the Lord & find great delight in his commands.’

    12) Being doers of the word. (James 1:22)

    And,
    13) ‘Praying with thanks
    giving mind’,as a servant
    of God. ( 1 Peter 2 : 16,

    ( Philippians. 4 : 6) &
    (Ephe. 6 : 18- 20) state,
‘Praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer & supplication with thanks
    giving for all the saints
let your requests be made known unto God.’
