Deuteronomy 6:7 Talk About It

Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Deuteronomy 6:7

As Moses gave the Israelites all the commands of God, he told them to remember them. They were to pass it on to their children. They were to talk about the commands from the moment they get up until the go to bed at night.

Life is very busy, especially when a person has children. There are many things to do: go to work, take a child to school or lessons or games, doctor appointments, bills to pay, food to cook, clothes to buy, and the list goes on forever. Each day these things and more are the topics that people talk about or are focused on.

As busy as family can get, it becomes easy to forget what is most important. The most important thing is God and His commands or desires.

Moses gave a very simple solution to this problem– you are to talk about God and His desires. This is not to happen just on Sundays in church, but each and everyday. And not only every day, but all day long.

When you get up you start talking about God and what He wants. Pass this information on to your children or other people. Everyone needs to hear what God’s commands are and what He desires of each and every person.

As you are talking with a person at work or in a store, filter God’s love and desires into the talk. This does two things: it helps you remember what God wants and is doing, and it helps tell others what God wants and is doing.

In talking all the time about God it will cause your children or other people to do the same. God will be able to work in their hearts with His living and active Word being placed in their hearts through your speaking about them.

If there was a recording of what you said all day, each day, what would it look like?

Would it be only about the things you have to do or are doing?

Or would it be about what God wants and is doing?

I pray today that your heart will be filled with God’s desires; that you will talk about God everywhere you go; that you will pass on what God wants to everyone around you; and that you will never forget what God wants and is doing.
