“Therefore, they are before the throne of God and serve him day and night in his temple;” Revelation 7:15
In John’s vision he sees a great crowd of people from all nationalities dressed in white robes. They are standing before the throne of God and are giving Him praise. These are people who have believed in Jesus and never gave up. Jesus has brought them to heaven and has given them a white robe, a sign of purity and holiness. They are now standing before the throne of God to serve Him day and night.
When you go to a restaurant you expect the waiter to serve your every need while there. You expect him to know when you need a drink refilled, or when you are finished with a part of the meal to remove the plate, or to bring a desert. The waiter is there to serve you in your needs at that moment.
Jesus has paid the price for your sins to allow you to serve God. Before your sins were removed, you were not allowed to go before God at all. Now you have the privilege and honor to go before God. Along with that you have the privilege and honor to serve His needs.
Serving God does not have to wait until you get to heaven. You can start serving Him today. This can be done day and night.
You may ask how can you a simple person serve God who is the maker of everything and in absolute control? You are God’s hands, feet and voice on this earth.
It is through you that God touches lives. It is through you that people hear about what Jesus has done for them. It is through your prayers that God can bring about healing and other miracles in the lives of other people. It is through you that the world can learn what true love is.
You have the honor and ability to serve God today. Are you open to what God wants you to do?
Do not be like some waiters and close your eyes to the needs of God. No one likes a waiter who does not meet their needs. Will you be a good waiter for God today?
I pray today that God will show you things He needs done; that you will open your ears and eyes to seeing what God needs; that you will dedicate your life to service for God; and that God will use you to touch the world for Jesus.
