“You will roll them up like a robe; like a garment they will be changed. But you remain the same, and your years will never end.” Hebrews 1:12
Right after talking about how the heavens and the earth will perish and that Jesus will remain forever, the writer brings out another great point–that He will never change. Once the heavens and the earth are destroyed, they will be made new again, they will be changed. While this happens, Jesus will stay the same for eternity.
Although most people do not really like change, it does happen all the time. Many changes tend to be for the good. Children grow larger and smarter for the better; people get the change of a pay raise at work; couples get the change of getting married and having children; and many other changes that are expected in life. If there were no change in these things, it would be a bad situation.
Other changes occur that are not so pleasant. The loss of a job; illness; moving without choice; loss of a loved one; and many other things.
It is difficult to understand that someone never changes. Many people have known a friend over the years and watched them change in their character. Sometimes the change is good, other times it is for the worse. To have someone who never changes is difficult to comprehend.
Yet, that is what Jesus is like. He is the same as He was when He created the world. His love and actions are the same. Read through the Bible to see how Jesus thinks and acts. Every spot you see God doing something in the Old Testament is an example of how Jesus would act. Jesus does nothing that His Father would not do. And this never changes.
You can rest assured that Jesus will be there to take care of you. You may know that He truly does love you. And since He will live forever, this can be a comfort that He will always be there. Your world may fall apart, but God will be there through it all by your side.
Will you trust Jesus? Will you rest in His ways, since He is there for you?
I pray today that you will know the love Jesus has for you; that you will know that He is there for you; that you will have peace in that Jesus never changes; and that you will live for Jesus.
