“He also says, In the beginning, Lord, you laid the foundations of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands. They will perish, but you will remain; they will all wear out like a garment.” Hebrews 1:10-11
The author of Hebrews starts out the book talking about God’s Son who is Jesus. He is described as someone greater than the angels and any person who ever lived. In these verses, Jesus as listed as the One who created the heavens and the earth.
Just to accept that Jesus created the heavens and the earth, one must also accept that He was just more than a man when He walked on the earth. Jesus is also God.
Looking up into the sky at night, on a clear night in the country, you will see the moon and countless number of stars. If you are a long ways away from any city, the number of stars you can see expands dramatically. Every night the stars will look the same and be in the same place. They never seem to change.
You can also travel around the world seeing great landscapes. You can see the beauty of some great mountains, or across the great plains, or the rolling sand dunes of a desert, or the waves of the ocean. Again, you can look at these year after year, and they never seem to change. The beauty of this earth appears to always be there.
Yet, all these things will be gone some day. The moon, stars, planets, and all the beauty of this earth will be gone at some point in the future. They cannot and will not last forever.
While all of these things may fall apart, like some clothing will wear out, Jesus will not fall apart and go away. When all these things are gone, Jesus will remain.
This gives you hope that He is in control and can save you for all eternity. When you are going through tough times, keep this in mind. All the things that are in this world, both good and bad, are just temporary things. Only Jesus remains and those who are with Him.
Who are you with today? The things of this world? Or Jesus?
I pray today that Jesus will reveal more of Himself to you; that God will give you His peace; that you will know Jesus is in control; and that you will know Jesus in a personal way.
