“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith–and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God–not by works, so that no one can boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9
All of the false religions of the world require many different things to make it into heaven or perfection. Each one requires things differently, different prayers, or acts, or sacrifices. Even though they do all of these works and ceremonies, none guarantee that the person will accomplish what was desired. Often Christians do the same thing. They require certain acts in order for a person to be saved.
God made the plan of salvation very simple and available to every person. No person ever deserved to be saved. It is only by God’s loving grace that a person can be saved. Every person broke God’s rules and all each person deserves is punishment and death.
Yet, God loved you so much that His grace provided for salvation for you. To have this salvation, all you must have is faith. God knew this and provided faith for you to have as a gift. No person can have faith in God unless God has given him the faith.
Every person has already been given some measure of faith. Faith is trust in the unseen. If you believe someone does not have any faith, show me a person who turns on a light switch and does not have faith that it will turn on. Or drives down the road having faith others will stay on their side of the road. Everyone has faith, it is just a question in what?
God did it by grace and faith so that it would not be by works. Just like the false religions, if you were saved by what you did, how would you know if you had done enough? When would you be saved or still in need of salvation? Along with that, one person could boast that he was more saved than someone else.
God removed all fear and boasting by providing salvation by grace through faith. It is His work, not yours. Have you accepted His gift? Are you believing in the work of Jesus today?
Are you saved? Or are you trying to work for your salvation?
I pray today that you will know the grace God has given you; that you will have faith in Jesus for your salvation; that you will not work to earn your salvation; and that God will build your faith in Him.
